The SpineZone Story
About SpineZone Doctors Kamshad and Kian Raiszadeh
Dr. Kamshad Raiszadeh, an orthopedic spine surgeon, established SpineZone in 2005 to develop the best aspects of non-operative treatment in an atmosphere of empowerment to maximize the body’s own healing capacity. With this program, many fewer patients have required surgery, and the ones who underwent surgery had much better long term results. Through the 4 clinics Dr. Raiszadeh built in San Diego he learned that with appropriate education, focused strengthening and postural treatment we can decrease the rate of injections and surgery while significantly improving the function and satisfaction of patients.
In 2014, Dr. Kian Raiszadeh left his lucrative career as a lead physician and orthopedic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente because he felt that he could have a bigger impact on bone and joint health if he started his own company. After developing a software solution to help patients manage their chronic conditions and signing up a large medical group, he decided in 2015 that it made sense to join forces with his brother to turbocharge SpineZone by bringing it to patients around the country.
SpineZone now has 3 large medical groups referring patients, over 6 years of data from personalizing back pain treatments, and thousands of satisfied, pain-free customers.
Kamshad Raiszadeh, MD
Chief Medical Officer and
Co‑founder of SpineZone
Bio
After completing undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, Dr. Raiszadeh completed medical school at UC San Francisco, orthopedic surgery residency at UC Davis, and his Pediatric and Adult Spine Fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases/NYU in New York City. He has 20 years of experience with the broad range of spine surgery including minimally invasive surgery, complex spinal disorders such as scoliosis and kyphosis, and cervical spine disorders. During this 20 years he has noticed a dramatic increase in patients turning to surgery for treatment of neck and low back pain, but many of them not getting their desired long-term result. He therefore became increasingly interested in improvement and standardization of non-operative treatment. By developing the best aspects of non-operative treatment in an atmosphere of empowerment to maximize the body’s own healing capacity, he noticed that many fewer patients required surgery, and the ones who underwent surgery had much better long term results.
